Chartjackers update

November 9, 2009

Just a quick update on chartjackers – the song is finally on itunes and is available to buy! At the moment the song is only available in the UK but they are working on it so it can be available worldwide. Since I’m writing about it I might aswell post the video:

It’s everything that isnt in an everyday song which I find great. It’s cheesy, but in my opinion thats what I think makes the song really fun and something you would want to dance to or muck about with your friends. Feel good factor to the max :)

I wish them all the luck, I’ve already bought mine – lets see if they get in the top 40! (UK charts)

Halloween Reviewed

October 30, 2009

Okay, so tomorrow is halloween which is always a good excuse to dress up and muck about – whether it is going to a fancy dress party or doing trick or treat with friends. Well here (just in time for Halloween) I’ve come up with some great sites to check out for everything from make-up to food.

First there is the halloween make-up and there are so many good tutorials for different look. The first one I am going to show you is a tutorial for making a “zombie bite wound” which looks really effective and life like (see video below).

I think the tutorial is really clear with simple instructions for the beginners. If you have the time to make such an effort, it would really look good for Halloween!

Also if you want more kind of wound like effects using the tool of make-up, or just halloween looks in general, check out http://www.youtube.com/user/petrilude because he has done lots of Halloween looks and they are very good.

Now, for food, I have really warmed to the idea of Halloween cakes because it’s something most people love to have a bite out of and you can’t really go wrong with cakes. Not to mention it is real fun to do with children!

Anyway, I really liked the quick and easy designs that were used as designs on cupcakes (see right). For the recipe and how to make each design onPreviewFile.jpg.ashx each cupcake, check out http://www.itv.com/lifestyle/thismorning/food/halloweencupcakes . It gives an easy guide for making the cupcakes and making the designs. This would be great for any Halloween party and would be even better if there are children that could have fun while helping you make them. Even if you did not have enough time to make the actual cupcakes, there is the option of buying them from the supermarket etc.

Not found the place to be this halloween? In London, there are so many thing happening tomorrow. For the over 18’s, there is the ministry of sound club night at Elephant and Castle for a pretty cheap fee of £13 + booking fee which would most probs be a few quid (check http://tinyurl.com/yjwk8yj to book tickets and check what it’s about) – But for those who aren’t into the party scene and want to be freaked out this Halloween why not try the PhoboPhobia thats happening at London Bridge tomorrow? check out http://tinyurl.com/yhcjxy6 for more info :)

Anyway, here are just a few things that could help kick start the Halloween spirit! Have fun! :D

CHARTJACKERS

October 10, 2009

ee46165a6766877784190ad5b0166cf1527fb398Okay, so who has not heard of the ChartJackers project? I’d be surprised since it’s all over youtube and BBC Switch! But for those who don’t know about the project here is the lowdown of it:

- Basically it is a 10 week (5 weeks left!) project where Charlie McDonell (charlieissocoollike), Alex Day (nerimon), Jimmy (jimmy0010) and Johnny (johnnydurham19) along with all of their fanbase’s to create a song and attempt to get to number one in the UK charts all in aid of Children in Need.

Now it seems like an impossible task am I right? Well I must say, they are already doing a fantastic job as they have got a song written and produced and already have the publicity from BBC Switch. However, there is so much more to do so if you want to help in any way visit the links below and make this project a real success :)

Youtube chartjackers:  http://www.youtube.com/chartjackersproject

BBC Switch: http://www.bbc.co.uk/chartjackers

Side note: anyone from the world can help, from publicising the project to buying the song when it comes out – all proceeds go to Children in Need!

Also a final question cos everyone likes a bit of discussion : What do you think about this project? Do you think it could really work?

Polaroid Revival

October 3, 2009

414c6yt0rml_aa280_Who does not like Polaroid’s? I absolutely love them – from the way they look to the way the photo comes out instantly. I love watching the photo develop over time and it is such a shame they have discontinued. Granted, Fuji now have their own instant camera’s (the Instax mini 55i for example) but I think it just is not the same. Even if you buy a polaroid camera the film for it (10 photos per pack) will cost you over £15 in the UK which is just so expensive, especially for myself as my source of income is  limited, being at college and all.

But I came accross an organisation which Urban Outfitters have teamed up with and their goal is to bring the good old polaroid’s back to life instead of the digital cameras which have taken over. I think this a such a cool idea and hopefully we won’t be lost in the digital whirlwind which take over everything in this world. (Digital is good, but why much it take over everything?)

What do you think of it all?

Review of “Brand New Eyes” by Paramore

September 29, 2009

paramore_brand_new_eyes

Wow is all I have to say really. I bought the CD today and listened to it as soon as I got home with much anticipation. It all started with the song “careful” which immediately started with the guitar riffs. It was good old Paramore striking gold again. Then it went to the song which people know only too well “Ignorance” which carries on the deep meaning of lyrics which are carried out with every other song on the album. I was so excited to get the album after waiting ages for it to come out but it was definitely worth the wait! Paramore are on top form with this album and I could go as far as saying it could potentially be their best album yet, showing that by the band making this album just that much more personal, it has produced wonderful music. The second half of the album I’d say is much more optimistic than the first half where songs like “Ignorance” are and that just shows what journey they have been on. The cover of the album is simple but it still looks pretty, although I don’t know what is up with the different types of frames on the back of the album – are they meant to be symbolizing something? I don’t know. I’d definitely recommend buying it either on CD or downloading it from Amazon or something.

This mini review may be updated once I’ve listened to the album even more, but right now, I love it!

Simplicity//beauty

September 26, 2009

Sometimes I can’t imagine that beautiful or interesting things could be created so easily. Take this picture for example, I wiggled the mouse for a minute on http://lab.andre-michelle.com/color-traces and there it was created. It looks so complicated yet it is so simple, and I think this seems to be a great representation of my life right now. I’ve just started college (two weeks in now) and I feel like I’m busy all the time and that everything is so complicated… well until last night. I have a thing about problems, if I have some they must be sorted, so naturally I had to fix this problem I thought I had. I made list after list of things and I came to realise that nothing is a complicated, not really right now. Everything has a simple answer, it’s just some want to avoid it.

Simplicity is beautiful.
